Allowing children extended periods of uninterrupted, child-initiated play is vital for their development, This practice helps them build relationships with peers and teachers and delve deeply into their activities. Child-initiated play fosters growth in math, language, literacy, science, creative expression and social-emotional skills.
Circle time is a key part of the daily routine, promoting a sense of community and shared learning among children. During circle time, children gather to sing songs, discuss their interests, share ideas, and plan activities, fostering a collaborative and child -centered environment. This time encourages social interaction, language development, and the exploration of concepts through group dialogue and collaborative projects.
Small Group time is an essential component, allowing children to engage in more focused and in-depth exploration of their interest. During this time, small groups are a 1:7 teacher to child ratio fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. Teachers work as facilitators, guiding discussions, providing resources, and encouraging children to express their ideas and solve problems together. This approach nurtures individual learning while promoting social and cognitive development.
Outside time is integral to the daily schedule, emphasizing the importance of nature and outdoor exploration in children's learning. Children engage with the natural environment, fostering curiosity, creativity, and physical development. Outdoor activities encourage sensory experiences, social interactions, and opportunities for children to investigate and connect with the world around them. Teachers support this exploration by providing diverse materials and facilitating child-led discoveries.
