The Role of the Teacher

Our dedicated educators come to us with a wealth of knowledge and expertise. They foster loving relationships with all the children and nurture their inner spirit. The role of the teacher is one of observer, facilitator and researcher. They embrace children’s strengths, support their interests and build on their skills and emerging abilities. Our teachers are curious about the work children are engaged in. They ask intentional questions, extend on their ideas and provoke their thinking by helping them discover new insights and possibilities. While playing with children, teachers document what they observe to gain an understanding of children’s thoughts, intentions and interests. Observations give insight into individual children as well as guide the planning of curriculum and the environment.
